Kenny's Korner - Hurricane Jesus
Hello everyone. Welcome to another installment of Kenny’s Korner. I pray you’ve
all been blessed and are spreading the gospel to those around you.
I’ve been thinking lately about the seasons and how hot it has been here in
central Florida. I know everyone is feeling the effects all over the country, but I am so
looking forward to Fall time and hopefully some cooler weather. We’re about halfway
through hurricane season right now and thank God we haven’t been bothered too much
by big storms. I recall back in 2004 when Florida had four storms that just kept pounding
and demolishing our state, especially up and down the coastal areas. I read that those
storms (in just a month and a half), caused over 51 billion dollars in damage. I pray we
never see anything like that again...anywhere.
I’m sure most of you are aware of the news coverage anytime a storm is
approaching. Stations all over are constantly reporting on the weather and all of the
things you should do to prepare for a hurricane. They tell you to get flashlights,
non-perishable foods, plywood to board up your windows, etc., etc. They want you to be
prepared for the coming storm. (I’m sure you know where I’m going with this.)
I want to tell you about a storm that is coming. A glorious storm. Not a storm of devastation, but one of passion, love, and reunion. Just as dark clouds, shifting winds,
and falling barometric pressure warn people of an approaching storm, today’s global
events and biblical prophecies have long been reminding us of Jesus’ return.
I remember as a boy going to church with my grandparents at Whitfield Assembly
of God in Jay, Florida. I listened to the pastor speak every Sunday about the return of
Jesus and how wonderful it will be. It seemed a little scary for me at the time but only
because I didn’t understand it then. As the years went by I didn’t think about it much. I
was too busy having a good time with my friends and doing things that I shouldn’t have
been doing. I was not preparing for the storm that is coming. I felt I had plenty of
time and I’m going to wait until I’m old and then focus on my spiritual wellness. Looking
back now, I believe that the enemy was using those statements to keep me from giving
my life to Jesus right then. We don’t know when He will come back. “No one knows the
time, not even the angels or the Son, only the Father” (Matthew 24:36).
The Bible says we will all see Jesus when He returns. Matthew 24:27 says “For
as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of
the Son of man.” It clearly states that He will return and be visible in the eastern sky, and
at that moment, you can’t run out to get your salvation supplies. It will be too late. The
time is now. In Revelations 3:20, Jesus says; “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” He
is waiting for you to open the door, to be prepared for His second coming where you can
live in Heaven forever with our Savior.
We recently went through the book of Revelations in our Bible study at my
church. The devastation described in the Bible that talked about what this Earth will go through after Jesus returns, is unfathomable. I cannot imagine the destruction and
chaos that will ensue or what it will be like for those who chose not to let Jesus into their
hearts.
It is so simple to do. If you don’t know Jesus, just ask Him into your heart. Ask
Him to forgive you for all of your sins and help guide you through this life until He takes
us to the next. I promise, the Holy Spirit will change you and make you see things
differently. I know this, because He did it for me. This is all the preparation you need to
weather the storm of “Hurricane Jesus.” Please don’t wait until it’s too late.
Until next time,
Love you all, God bless.
Kenny
