Hello everyone. This is my first installment of Kenny’s Korner....YAY! I really hope you
guys are doing amazing. I just wanted to take some time, once per month, to encourage you and let you know how much Jesus loves you.
So....here goes.
Well, I was blessed enough to be the recipient of a condo stay for a week in Daytona
beach. A wonderful couple at my church asked if my family would like to use it since they
wouldn’t be able to. Of course I said a big YES!!! And also a big THANK YOU!!!!
It was a wonderful place right on the beach and not too crowded.
Unfortunately, my wife and daughter were not able to stay the entire week due to some
commitments at home, but that didn’t affect me any. I took full advantage of a few days on my own, doing some reflecting, song writing, and just getting closer to God.
I didn’t spend much time on the beach this week. In fact, this particular condo has a
really nice pool area where I kind of just hung out and read and listened to the waves crashing on the shore. I often just reflected on how beautiful all of God’s creations were, from the beach itself, to all of the awesome birds walking, flying, and foraging about. It was absolutely amazing!!
Since I was eating out that week, I made sure to go for a walk each evening to burn
some of those calories I took in the day before. I recently installed an app on my phone that
keeps track of my steps. It encourages 10,000 steps per day so I made sure, at the very least, to hit that mark.
For those of you who have never been to Daytona, this is one of the few beaches where
you are allowed to drive your car or truck on it. As I was walking, I couldn’t help but notice the unsightly tire tracks and holes the vehicles made as they drove up and down the entirety of the beach. Then I also noticed how late in the evening, and due to the high tide, the waves would come in a little further and further. Essentially, erasing all the tracks and filling the holes made by the vehicles. I thought to myself how awesome it was that God would remove those unsightly blemishes from the beach in His own natural and wonderful way. It was astonishing to watch... so simple, yet so profound. The sand was made smooth again like it was never even touched.
Then I thought deeper about this. It reminded me that those tire tracks were a lot like sin.
How each day sin can blemish our souls, but then along comes God to engulf us with a “wave of forgiveness”. It gives us a clean slate all over again. Of course God doesn’t expect us to be blemished again the very next day like the beach, but we are human, and humans sin....repeatedly. Thank God His forgiveness is unlimited. It reminds me of Matthew 18:22 where Jesus tells Peter that he should forgive not seven times, but seventy seven times. That goes for all of us. We should forgive each other for whatever transgressions have been done to us, or we have done to others.
So let’s work hard to erase the tire tracks left on us by others, as God erases the ones
left on us by ourselves. It will certainly be a breath of fresh air and a good feeling to have that burden lifted from our shoulders. Until next time, may the Lord bless you. Love you all.
