Kenny's Korner - Are YOU on the List?
Hello everyone, it’s time for Kenny’s Korner again. I really hope you guys and gals are
having an amazing month and the Lord has answered all of your prayers.
Have you ever watched a TV show, or a movie, or been in a situation where there was a doorperson with a clipboard standing in front of an establishment checking a list of VIPs? If you’re a “very important person,” or made reservations ahead of time, then he or she checks the list, and if you’re on it.... then you are permitted to go through the velvet ropes.
I like to think that Heaven is a lot like that in a sense. But it’s not so much a VIP list as it
is a book. The Lamb’s Book of Life to be a matter of fact. There are quite a few references to the Book of Life in the bible. One of the earliest mentions is in Exodus 32: 32-33, where Moses asks God to forgive the Israelites, and if not, to blot his name from “the book” He has written. But the Lord replied to him saying that only those who sin against Me, will have their names blotted out of “the book.”
Paul mentions it in Philippians 4:3, he urges his companion to aid women who laboured
alongside him and Clement for the gospel, noting that their names are recorded in the Book of Life. I like to believe that the Lamb’s Book of Life is the ultimate VIP list. A list above all other lists. But you can’t call to make reservations to be on it. You don’t have to be rich or entitled to get your name on this list either.
I heard a preacher once tell a story a few months ago about the sinking of the Titanic. We have all heard about the tragedy, but on April 14th, 1912, the ship struck an iceberg 600
miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. It eventually sank into the North Atlantic ocean around 2 am the next day. Out of the 2,200 people on board, nearly 1,500 were killed. The preacher went on to say that a lot of those people on the ship were very rich and well known.
Most were probably used to being on some of those VIP lists wherever they went. But the
moment the ship went down, only two lists mattered..... saved, or not saved.
I often think about how easy it is to give your life to Jesus. I remember how hard headed
I was, and why it took so long I’ll never know. But I can tell you, that once I did, I began to see the blessings come pouring in. Some things were so obvious, and some were not, but I could immediately tell the difference in my life. Do bad things still happen to me? Absolutely. Is everything puppy dogs and butterflies? Not at all. But I know that Jesus has my back anytime I need Him. All you have to do is ask.
Remember the thief on the cross next to Jesus? (Luke 23: 42-43.) He asked Jesus to
remember him when He entered His kingdom. And Jesus said, “Today you shall be with me in paradise.” And just like that, he was on the guest list. (I just channeled my best Forrest
Gump voice on that last line.) It is literally that easy. Just ask.
The Book of Life is mentioned several times in Revelations as well. One of note is
Revelations 21:27, which states, “There shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”
You know, one day we will all come face to face with our Lord and Saviour. As He acknowledges the names of the victorious before His Father, He will either say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Or, “Depart from Me, I never knew you.” I know which statement I want to hear and I’m going to do everything I can in my power to make Him proud of me.
If you get time, look up the song ”Everybody talks to God” by Aaron Lewis. Sooner or later we will all see Jesus. It’s up to you to decide how that conversation will go.
Until next time. May God bless you.
Love you all.
-Kenny
